Beautiful engraved mourning brooch with sterling silver mount engraved on back ‘In Memoriam’. Throughout the Victorian and Edwardian eras, ‘sea beans’ would occasionally wash up on European beaches after traveling on ocean currents from far more exotic lands. Sea beans were seen as lucky and also incorporated into memorial jewellery honouring deceased loved ones given their seemingly magical powers to make miraculous journeys.
