That includes reading a description down the phone, sending extra photographs or measurements, describing an object in more detail, or supplying anything on this site as plain text or large print. Just ask.
What we have done
We would rather tell you what is actually true than claim a standard we have not tested against.
- Every product photograph carries a written description for screen readers.
- The site can be navigated by keyboard, with a “skip to content” link and a visible focus outline.
- Buttons and controls have proper labels rather than bare icons.
- Moving content — the customer reviews — stops when you hover or tab into it, and does not move at all if your device is set to reduce motion.
- Pages are structured with real headings, so you can jump through them.
- Nothing on the site relies on colour alone to make sense.
What we know is not perfect
- Some colour combinations in our design are lower contrast than we would like, particularly smaller gold text on pale backgrounds. We are reviewing this.
- We have not had the site formally audited against WCAG 2.1 AA, so we are not claiming that standard.
- Some older product descriptions are thinner than our newer ones.
Visiting the shop
An honest answer is more use to you than a reassuring one.
The Cabinet is a densely packed heritage building. There is a great deal in it, and aisles are narrow in places. If you use a wheelchair, a walker, or would simply like to know what to expect before you travel, phone us on 905-818-5728 and we will describe the space honestly and tell you what we can do to help.
If there is something you would like to see and cannot reach, we will bring it to you.
If we get it wrong
Tell us. Email curator@cabinetofcuriosities.ca or phone 905-818-5728, and describe what happened and what you were trying to do.
We will acknowledge your message, tell you what we intend to do, and give you the information you were after by another route in the meantime. If you would prefer to give feedback by phone, in writing, or in person, all three are fine.
