Beautifully done hand coloured and illustrated photograph circa 1860 in a gorgeous rosewood period frame with gold accents. During the 19th century many artists were employed by photographers to illustrate or hand colour over the photographs to add depth and design, often the drawing overtakes the image and almost obscures the photographic qualities.
